INGR´S DAYS 2026

2026-March-06: The role of conferences: Ingr’s Days

The Ingr’s Days 2026 conference took place this week for 3 days. During the main activities in the University auditorium, there was also a rich supplementary program in addition to the main one.

Although the 3 days are key for the conference, we live more than an entire week with activities:

  • March 3: International Day (including Food Symposium 6.0, which takes place online)
  • March 4: Honoured Day (including Gala Dinner)
  • March 5: Milk Day (including Czech Brew Star 2026 Awards)

The traditional March international Food Quality and Safety Conference deals with the issue of quality parameters of food, food of plant and animal origin, in all contexts. The program includes invited speakers, lectures, and poster communication. The conference is an opportunity for a traditional meeting of participants from among academic staff of universities, research institutions and state control bodies, processing companies and businesses, as well as individuals with an interest in the given issue. Minister of Agriculture Czech Republic Martin Šebestyán patronized this conference, which is also supported within the framework of EFSA. This year's additional program was the memory of Professor Vladimír Kyzlink (known and famous in food preservation) in cooperation with colleagues from the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague. Furthermore, for the first time in history, an international exhibition of foods produced at universities (pilot plants labiratories, companies, courses with students) or within the framework of applied research was held, this year there were 5 universities from two countries.

On the occasion of the meeting of experts, we traditionally use the facilities, space and time during the conference to meet project teams and operational groups, editorial boards of Scientific Journals, but also for purely social events. This was the Social Evening - Gala Dinner, where participants could see a master bartender (Richard Máša) and a trainer in proper beer dispensing (draught/draft beer) and be and try out the role of trainees. The last Thursday day in the auditorium was concluded with the announcement (BEER STARS - awards and certificates) of the Czech Brew Star competition, which took place at MENDELU on February 6, 2026.

This year, we welcomed guests from Finland, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and colleagues from South Africa and the USA also gave online lectures.

I am pleased to write that every major scientific institution that deals with food quality in the Czech Republic had an active representative here.

At the same time, we do not forget the public. Many company representatives were present. And of course, students who have unique opportunities to absorb information and “genius loci”.

At the Social Evening, we presented the conference’s silver commemorative medals to Professor Andrea Serraino (University of Bologna) and Professor Ivica Kos (University of Zagreb) and Professor Lenka Kouřimská (Czech University of Agriculture, Prague).

Therefore, conferences do not only have a scientific dimension, but their social role is also essential.

We thank the sponsors and partners of the event, not only those who contributed financially, but also with any support, and of course the conference participants and active speakers presenting the results of their work and knowledge.

Thank you all and we look forward to the next year, which will take place from March 2 to 4, 2027.

You are cordially invited.
